5 Reasons Arizona Raised Beef is Better

You've heard it before: buying local is better. But why exactly?

1. Economic. When you buy local, you're putting your dollars back into the local economy.
You aren't supporting an unknown, faceless corporation. You're supporting the family down the street and their local employees. This means your local business stay in business, your local economy grows, and your community thrives.

2. The Environment. Sustainable food production has a lot to do with overall environmental impact. The less a product travels, the fewer emissions expended to get it to market. Buying locally made products is a great way to decrease your - and your community's environmental footprint... and when the local business sources their inputs locally too, all the better for both the economy and the environment.

3. It's Fresher. Sure, we've learned a lot about food storage and transportation... and the speed with which we can transport large quantities over large distances has made it possible to enjoy foods from all over the world. We think that's pretty cool. But when you source your everyday items (fruits, veggies, meats, breads) locally, they're bound to be fresher if they don't have to spend a week of their life on a ship, truck, or train (or all of the above).

4. It tastes better. Locally produced food is very often the result of a carefully curated labor of love by local artisans. Doesn't that sound better than more mass-produced, salt-drenched, over-preserved junk? Mass produced anything is cheaper for a reason... because each individual product doesn't take the time, skill, or care that it does when you do it on a small scale. So when you can splurge for something better... do it!

5. You know where it came from. Whether you've been worried about the pandemic or not, one thing it did for everyone: made us hyperaware of just how many people have touched everything we come into contact with! From the door handle to our grocery bags to the food inside them, often our food has been touched by literally thousands of hands before making it into ours. When it's locally produced by a small farmer, that number might be more like 2 to 3. There's a peace of mind that comes with knowing where -and from whom - your food came.
